The Art of Patricia Nix (fragment)

National Academy of Design defines Patricia Nix as one of the most highly respected oil painters in America. Nix's work is displayed throughout the world in prestigious public, corporate and university collections, including the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American Art and numerous other national museums. It has been reviewed by the major art publications and critics of the day and used as cover art on multiple books, journals, and publications, including Reader's Digest. Perhaps the most important endorsement of Patricia Nix comes from the many hundreds of discriminating private collectors around the world who have acquired her work, some paying amounts exceeding $100,000. Her work embraces art history and draws on the major stylistic movements of our time, including cubism and surrealism. She has been hailed by critics as the successor to such disparate artists as Georgia O'Keefe and Joseph Cornell, and has exhibited with other contemporary masters including David Hockney, Willem De Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Joseph Cornell, Louise Nevelson, Julian Schnabel, and Jim Dine. But despite these culture-specific influences and comparisons, Nix's work is powerful on a universal level and quite unique in the world of art. Indeed, the term "American Baroque" has been coined to describe her work. Patricia Nix has commisioned Visual Art Studio to create a visual portfolio of her work.

Death Disco, New York & The World

Death Disco, the international rock'n'roll party founded by Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream and Oasis discoverer and Libertines manager Alan McGee and Led Zeppelin, T-Rex and U2 guru BP Fallon. Death Disco happens in many cities around the globe but plays weekly in London & New York. Spinning rock'n'roll, punk and glam, guest DJs who have graced the Death Disco decks include Courtney Love, the Libertines, Shane MacGowan of the Pogues, the Hives, and Primal Scream, with everyone from My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie to Kate Moss and Anita Pallenberg to Jack and Meg from The White Stripes gracing the Death Disco dancefloor.

Dublin-born BP FALLON is the former publicist to Led Zeppelin, Marc Bolan, Ian Dury, Bob Geldof and manager of New York Doll Johnny Thunders. "Purple browed Beep" is how Marc Bolan described him in the T-Rex hit "Telegram Sam." A DJ since 1964, he has published three books of his words and photographs, one of which – "U2 Faraway So Close" - details his time when he joined U2 on their global Zoo TV tour as DJ, Viber and Guru. "BP's brilliant, though I'm not sure what he does" Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott famously told Melody Maker in 1976. Among the things that Fallon has done is work at the Beatles' Apple Records - where one of his jobs was testing Paul McCartney's grass - and crop up on BBC TV with John Lennon, miming bass guitar on "Instant Karma." He has DJ'd on tours by Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood. Last year BP collaborated with American Pop Artist Peter Max using a Fallon photograph of Bono; the resulting 45 Andy Warhol-style prints were sold at a charity auction in New York (attended by Bono, Bill Clinton and Robert De Niro), helping to raise over three million dollars. "A gentle, wispy sorcerer" is how Vogue describes BP. And Bono describes BP Fallon as "A rock'n'roll creature... the only white black man I know apart from Bob Dylan."

Visual Art Studio is honored to collaborate with BP Fallon on 'Death Disco, New York & The World.' Utilizing archival footage and photographs from BP's vast body of work , as well as original VAS footage and photographs we are creating a video document that is a Rock 'n' Roll eruption.
